WELCOME TO CAPECODFD.COM
Where CapeCodFD.com came from and what it is all about.....

 Welcome to CapeCodFD.com

Welcome to CapeCodFD.com.  This website is dedicated to providing you with information and images of the fire and rescue departments in the Cape Cod & Islands area of southeastern Massachusetts, USA. This site was first launched on September 11, 2000.

CapeCodFD.com is a personal website, and while it may represent information and images of the area fire departments, it is NOT an Official website of those fire departments. Contact with those departments should be made directly with those departments.  Attempts to contact any of the departments via this website will be unsuccessful.

This website was initially based on the concept of the "Barnstable County Fire Department's & Emergency Services Directory" that was published first in 1992 and again in 1995. The Directory was my effort to concentrate all the available information on the area departments into "One Source" that could be used for reference purposes.  The 1995 edition contained 185 pages of information on the fire departments, fire stations, apparatus, and related operations for the Cape, Islands, and lower Plymouth County. The written form of the Directory was proven over and over to be us great use to many people including fire chiefs, officers, dispatchers, firefighters, buffs, and others.

In the "Information Age" we live in, keeping the Directory up to date and published often enough to be current at all times, became an overwhelming challenge.  So much has changed since 1995, it is almost hard to imagine.  I still hope to publish a New Edition at some point, because it needs to be done, but have not yet set a date for publication.

With the internet, CapeCodFD.com is able to provide many of the things that a written Directory is not able to.  Obviously, the ability to provide instant information and make changes and corrections quickly is unmatched.  The other great capability of the internet is the ability to share color photographs and images, in large numbers.  I enjoy photography and take a lot of pictures.  The ability to share them here is a significant advantage of the website.  The website can also be accessed by anyone in the world with a computer, and that is just plain cool.

It has always been my desire to make CapeCodFD.com an informative and accurate reference site.  While the site has become "Huge" in many ways, it is still far from complete and I continue to work towards  a finished product. There is still much that can be done. I make every effort to try to keep it up to date and useful.  This is a large task and your help is welcome.  If you find errors, or know of changes that need to be made, feel free to email me so that the changes can be made.  It has also been my desire to make CapeCodFD.com an interesting and enjoyable site to visit.  It should also be a fun site to spend time at, and I know many people have.  I appreciate that you visit often and spend time learning about the Cape Cod area fire rescue departments.

When I started the site, I was a complete novice to Web Design.  I have learned along the way.  The site was developed initially on my old Mac using MS FrontPage.  When I made the move to a PC, I continued to use MS FrontPage.  The program is pretty easy to use and has features I still have not learned to master. I work on the site in my spare time and receive to financial benefits for it.  It is purely a labor of love and fills a need to share the information and images I am able to.

Please feel free sending an email now and then.  I enjoy hearing from you.  Thank you for visiting Cape Cod and making CapeCodFD.com one of your Favorite sites.  Stay safe and see you at the big one.
